Acceptable Use Policy

1. Overview

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to all users of mlr. (the "Service"). It is part of our Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to comply with this policy.

We are committed to preventing abuse and ensuring that all emails sent through the Service comply with applicable laws, including CAN-SPAM (US), GDPR (EU), CASL (Canada), and other anti-spam regulations.

2. Prohibited Content

You must not use the Service to send, store, or distribute:

  • Unsolicited commercial email (spam) to recipients who have not given verifiable consent
  • Phishing messages or emails designed to deceive recipients into revealing personal information
  • Malware, viruses, or any harmful code or attachments
  • Content that promotes illegal activities or violates any applicable laws
  • Content that infringes on intellectual property rights of third parties
  • Fraudulent or deceptive content
  • Content that is defamatory, harassing, threatening, or promotes discrimination
  • Adult content sent to recipients who have not explicitly opted in to receive such content

3. Email Sending Requirements

All emails sent through the Service must comply with the following:

3.1 Consent

  • You must have valid, verifiable consent (opt-in) from every recipient before sending them email.
  • Purchased, rented, or scraped email lists are strictly prohibited.
  • You must maintain records of consent (opt-in URL, timestamp, and IP address where applicable).

3.2 Identification

  • All emails must accurately identify the sender.
  • From names and email addresses must not be misleading or deceptive.
  • Subject lines must accurately reflect the content of the email.

3.3 Unsubscribe

  • Every commercial email must include a clear and conspicuous unsubscribe mechanism.
  • Unsubscribe requests must be honoured within 10 business days.
  • The unsubscribe process must not require the recipient to log in or provide information beyond their email address.

3.4 Headers

  • Email headers must not be forged or manipulated to misrepresent the origin of the message.
  • Valid reply-to addresses must be used.

4. List Hygiene

  • You must regularly clean your recipient lists by removing bounced, invalid, and unsubscribed addresses.
  • You must process and honour suppression lists to prevent sending to opted-out recipients.
  • Lists must not contain role-based addresses (e.g., abuse@, postmaster@) for commercial sending.
  • You must remove hard-bounced addresses after the first bounce.

5. Infrastructure Use

  • You must not use the Service to conduct or facilitate denial-of-service attacks.
  • You must not attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data or systems.
  • You must not use the Service in ways that could damage, disable, or impair the infrastructure.
  • MTA servers configured through the Service must only be used for legitimate email sending.

6. Monitoring & Enforcement

We reserve the right to:

  • Monitor sending patterns and content for compliance with this policy.
  • Suspend or limit sending capabilities if we detect potential violations.
  • Investigate complaints or reports of abuse.
  • Cooperate with law enforcement if required.

7. Consequences of Violation

Violations of this policy may result in:

  • Warning and request for immediate corrective action
  • Temporary suspension of sending capabilities
  • Permanent termination of your account
  • Reporting to relevant authorities or anti-abuse organizations

Serious violations (such as sending spam or phishing) may result in immediate termination without prior warning.

8. Reporting Abuse

If you have received unwanted email sent through our Service, or if you believe a user is violating this policy, please report it to:

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
